From Food Support to Employment

Author / Contributor: Adam (Name changed for privacy)

"I was struggling with anxiety and needed food parcels... Today, I am in full-time employment, no longer rely on food parcels and feel confident about my future."

When Adam first came to Nelson Community Foundation, he was facing severe financial anxiety and struggled to afford food for the week.

Through our Foodbank and Community Kitchen, Adam received emergency food parcels that relieved his immediate crisis. However, our team recognized he needed broader support to build long-term stability.

Adam was connected to our free, confidential counselling service to address his anxiety. Over several weeks, as his confidence returned, he began working with an employment coach on his CV, job applications, and interview preparation.

Today, Adam is in full-time employment, no longer requires food parcels, and is looking forward to a secure, independent future.
